House & Flat Removals in Watford, Hertfordshire & North London
Family-run since 2005. The same Robert who started the business still answers the phone and runs your move — with a stable two-person team that's been with us for years, blanket protection on every job, vehicles from a small Transit van up to a 7.5-tonne lorry, and clear quotes that hold on moving day. We cover Watford, Hertfordshire and North London as standard, and are happy to travel further afield.
What's included in every Small Removal Company house move
- Two-person crew minimum — with a full team of experienced removers available on larger moves.
- The right vehicle for the job — anything from a small Transit van up to a 7.5-tonne lorry, with multi-van runs on larger 4–5 bed moves.
- Fully insured — Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover on every job.
- Blanket protection on furniture and shrink-wrap on soft items, with floor protection at both properties.
- Door-to-door service — stairs, narrow hallways and tight access included.
- Same-day completion on most local Watford, Hertfordshire and North London moves.
- Full packing service available the day before, with all materials supplied.
- Boxes, tape, paper and mattress covers provided as standard, even on self-packing moves.
- Single point of contact — the person who quotes is the person who turns up.
- Bed and wardrobe dismantle and reassemble where needed.
- Free in-home quote on 3-bed properties and larger — we'd rather see the move before quoting than guess.
How it works
- Free quote, usually same-day. Phone or contact form. For 3-bed-plus moves we'll come and look in person so the quote is accurate before you commit.
- Packing day (optional). If you've booked the full packing service we arrive the day before, bring all materials, and label by destination room so the unpack is quick.
- Move day. We load, drive, and unload to the room of your choice. Beds are reassembled, packing materials taken away if you want — and that's the job done.
Watford-specific knowledge
Twenty years of doing this in one town means we know the streets you're moving on and the things only a local mover would know:
- Cassiobury, Nascot Wood, Bushey, Oxhey, Holywell, Garston — we know the streets, the parking patterns, and which roads suit a full Luton van versus a smaller vehicle.
- Watford Controlled Parking Zones — we'll arrange CPZ dispensations and suspension days through the council where moves need them.
- Victorian terraces near the high street — tight stairwells, period bannisters, sash-window access for awkward items. We plan ahead instead of forcing.
- Cassiobury listed buildings — experience working around protected features and conservation-area access rules.
- Watford Junction inbound moves — relocating in from London, the schedule pressure around train-line completions, and the typical Friday/Saturday booking patterns we plan around.
Pricing — what to expect
Local house and flat moves typically fall between £250 and £1,500 for a two-person crew and a van, depending on what we're moving and where. The lower end of that range covers small flats and one-bed moves with a smaller van; the upper end is large 4–5 bedroom houses with a 7.5-tonne lorry, a bigger crew and a full packing day. We quote up front, in writing, with no fuel surcharges or congestion-charge surprises bolted on later.
What tends to change the price:
- Property size and floor (second-floor flat without a lift takes longer)
- Distance between the two properties
- Day of the week — Friday and Saturday in spring/summer book up first and cost a little more
- Specialist items — pianos, safes, large garden equipment, glass-top tables
- Whether you want us to pack or you'll pack yourself
- Access constraints at either end (long carries, parking restrictions, lifts)
Why families in Watford choose us
- Family-run. Robert started Small Removal Company in 2005 and still leads every move. You speak to the owner, not a call-centre.
- Stable team. No subcontracted crews, no day-of strangers. The person who quotes is the person who turns up.
- Twenty years of Watford reviews on Google to back up what we say.
- Honest, written quotes. No "from" prices that grow on the day.
- We treat your home like a relative's. Quietly competent, careful, no drama.
Common questions about house removals in Watford
How much does a house removal cost in Watford?
Typically £250–£1,500 for a local two-person crew + van move. A small flat across town with a small Transit van is at the lower end; a four-bed house move with a 7.5-tonne lorry, larger crew and full packing is at the upper end. We give an exact figure once we know what's being moved and where.
How far in advance should I book?
Weekday moves can usually be fitted in with a week's notice. Friday and Saturday dates in April–August book up 4–6 weeks ahead. Last-minute jobs are welcome when we have space — get in touch and we'll tell you straight away what we can do.
Are you insured?
Yes — every move carries Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover, so your belongings are insured in our vans and the properties at both ends are covered if anything goes wrong with access or carrying.
Will you dismantle and reassemble beds and wardrobes?
Yes — beds, IKEA wardrobes, modular furniture and flat-pack units come apart and go back together as part of the job. Tell us in advance for anything unusual so we bring the right tools.
Can you move on weekends?
Yes. Saturdays are the busiest day in our calendar so book those early. We don't normally work Sundays but can sometimes accommodate by arrangement.
