About Small Removal Company

Our Story

Small Removal Company, based in Watford, Hertfordshire, was started in 2005 when Robert was struggling to provide for a young family. We are a family-run business. With a background in real estate, Robert noticed a need for trustworthy local removals — quotes that held on moving day, crews that turned up when they said they would, and care taken with the things people actually owned. He bought a van, started taking jobs around Watford, and the business has grown from there.

Twenty years on, we cover every aspect of removals and clearance: from single items to full house moves and office relocations. Most days that means a local Watford or Hertfordshire move, but we regularly take customers further across the UK, and we have moved customers internationally on request. We offer one-person help right through to multiple-team support, a full packing service with materials provided, and a house clearance service for when a life-stage change (downsizing, bereavement, an executor's appointment) makes a move more complex than just shifting boxes.

The team

Robert leads every job himself. Day-to-day moves are run by a small, stable team — including Ken, who's been with us for years and whose name has come up more than once in our customer reviews. We don't sub-contract crews or hire short-term help for individual jobs; the person you speak to on the phone is the person who turns up on your moving day. That continuity is the simplest reason customers come back to us and recommend us to family and friends.

Insurance & protection

Every move we do carries Goods in Transit insurance covering your belongings while they're in our vans, and Public Liability insurance covering damage to the properties at both ends. We bring blankets and protective wrap on every job, lay down floor protection on hard floors, and ease furniture rather than drag it. Most moves complete without a scratch — and on the rare occasion something does get damaged, we're insured so it gets put right.
