Packing Services & Materials
Two ways to make your move easier: a full packing service where our team packs your home the day before, or quality packing materials supplied with any booked move so you can pack at your own pace. Both are options on every Watford and Hertfordshire job we do.
The full packing service
We arrive the day before your move with all the materials and the same team that will run the move itself. By the end of the day every room is packed, labelled by destination, and stacked ready to load. Most one-bed flats pack in a morning; a three- to four-bedroom house typically takes a full day.
The full pack includes:
- All boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap, mattress and sofa covers supplied — you don't source anything yourself.
- Room-by-room packing with destination-room labels so the unpack is straightforward at the other end.
- Wrapping for fragiles — glassware, ceramics, picture frames, mirrors, electronics. Crockery and glassware are paper-wrapped individually and packed in dish-pack boxes.
- Specialist items handled separately and labelled clearly — fine art, instruments, antiques, family heirlooms.
- Wardrobe boxes for clothes on hangers so nothing creases in transit.
- Inventory list on request — useful for insurance claims and high-value items.
Packing materials only
Prefer to pack yourself? Every booked move includes packing materials at no extra cost — boxes, tape, paper, mattress covers and blankets supplied a few days before the move. We bring more than you need so you don't run out the night before.
If you only need materials (not a move), we can drop them off for a small fee. Get in touch with what you need.
How we choose what to wrap
- Furniture: blanket-wrapped, no exceptions. Stretch wrap holds the blanket in place during transit.
- Soft furnishings: sofas, mattresses and chairs get fitted plastic covers — dust-proof, clean, reusable.
- Glass and mirrors: bubble wrap, then cardboard sleeves, packed flat in the van against bulkheads.
- Electronics: screens face inwards, blanket-wrapped, packed in original boxes where you still have them.
- Books: small boxes only — heavy enough fully packed without overloading.
- Liquids and food: we recommend taking these in your own car. Anything we pack gets bagged to contain leaks.
Pricing — what to expect
The full packing service is priced separately from the move itself. As an indicative range:
- One-bed flat: typically £150–£250 for a half-day pack.
- Two- or three-bed house: typically £250–£400 for a full-day pack.
- Four-bed-plus or particularly fragile contents: quoted on the day-before plan.
Packing materials supplied alone (no move): typical box-and-tape pack for a one-bed flat runs £40–£70 delivered locally to Watford. Tell us what you need.
Common questions about packing services
Do I need to start packing before you arrive?
No — that's the point of the full packing service. We bring all the materials and pack from scratch. Plenty of customers leave drawers full and shelves stacked and we work through it in order.
Can I pack some things and you pack the rest?
Yes — a mixed approach is common. Many customers pack their own books, clothes and kitchen, and ask us to handle the fragile and tricky items. Tell us what you'd like to leave to us when we quote.
What about valuables and personal documents?
We recommend keeping passports, jewellery, cash and irreplaceable documents with you in your own car on moving day. Everything else is covered by Goods in Transit insurance.
Do you unpack at the other end?
Unpacking isn't part of the standard service — we unload to the rooms you label and place furniture as agreed. If you'd like a packing-team to also unpack, we can quote separately on the day we plan.
What happens to the packing materials after the move?
We collect empty boxes and packing materials within a few days of the move if you want them taken away — included in the price. Or you can keep them for storage.
